The nursing process is a key instrument for care organization, promoting individualized, safe and scientific-based care. In ophthalmology settings more precisely, its implementation brings specific challenges, such as the high turnover of patients, the predominance of outpatient care, short hospital stays, and mostly elderly population, often with visual limitations and multiple comorbidities. This scenario requires quick, accurate assessments with a strong focus on self-care.

Considering these particularities, nursing process at Hoftalon was implemented strategically, with a priory given to hospitalized patients and those undergoing corneal transplantation, due to the complexity and importance of this procedure.

This study is descriptive, retrospective, and quantitative, based on the analysis of institutional reports from 2025. Data from hospitalized patients and those who received a corneal transplant were evaluated, including nursing diagnoses according to NANDA International, as well as the most frequent nursing prescriptions.

The use of descriptive statistics made it possible to identify the care profile and highlighted the applicability of nursing process, reinforcing its importance in improving care quality, enhancing clinical documentation, and supporting clinical decision making.
