Global Ophthalmolohy Event by the Jerome Jacobson Global Program – The Jerome Jacobson Global Program at the Kellogg Eye Center is pleased to announce its next annual Global Night event on September 23, 2026.

Now in its 14th year, Global Night brings together medical students, ophthalmology residents and fellows, faculty, and University of Michigan Global REACH faculty associates for an evening of presentations celebrating global health engagement.

The program will feature University of Michigan students, residents, and faculty who have traveled abroad during the past year to collaborate with global partners around the world. This year’s keynote speaker will be Dr. Hunter Cherwek, Vice President of Clinical Services and Technology at ORBIS, widely known as the “flying eye hospital.”

Looking ahead, the Jerome Jacobson Global Program will partner with the American Academy of Ophthalmology to host the Global Ophthalmology Summit in Detroit, Michigan, in August 2027. The summit will welcome ophthalmologists, fellows, residents, students, and colleagues from around the globe for an important gathering focused on advancing global eye care.
