Summary
This presentation addresses the management of the surgical waiting list and its direct impact on the efficiency of surgical scheduling in an ophthalmology hospital. Through process improvements and data automation, the project contributed to increasing surgical productivity, supporting the performance of more than 14,500 procedures at Hoftalon in 2025.
Initially, the process was highly manual, hindering visibility of the surgical waiting list, identification of delays, and optimization of the use of available slots. Through data organization, process standardization, and automation tools developed in Excel and VBA, the workflow was redesigned to improve queue control and scheduling reliability.
The new process allowed for better monitoring of patients waiting for surgery, reduced scheduling delays, minimized errors, and improved alignment between surgical capacity and patient demand. As a result, the team gained faster access to critical information, supporting more assertive decisions and increasing operational productivity.
