The Moorfields and UCL Centre for Eye Health – Creating an Ecosystem for Care, Research, Training and Innovation
My presentation is connected to the following theme
Eye Hospital Management
5 key short sentences highlighting the essence of my presentation
- Moorfields will open the doors to its new Centre for Eye Health in the summer of 2027, creating a unique specialist centre for ophthalmology in the UK
- The new centre will create a new integrated ecosystem where the delivery of high quality ophthalmic care will sit alongside world-leading research by the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology
- ‘Bench to bedside’ research will lead to quicker access for patients to new treatment and opportunities to participate in clinical trials
- A new innovation hub will bring together leading clinicians, researchers, data scientists and industry partners to develop and test new approaches and technologies
- An extensive process of co-design with patients and other stakeholders will also significant improve access to services for people with impaired sight and allow us to deliver more efficient care pathways
Summary
Together with its main academic partner, the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, Moorfields has worked over the past years to design a new integrated centre for eye health in the heart of London.
The presentation will outline how intensive engagement with patients, staff and key partners has resulted in a unique design that will allow for a step-change in delivering patient-centered, efficient care and will create an ecosystem that will drive innovation.
