My presentation is connected to the following theme
Science & Clinical Research
5 key short sentences highlighting the essence of my presentation
- National Platforms Drive Innovation: Backed by national engineering and clinical research centers, the Eye Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University and Eye Valley platform synergize research and industrial translation to advance glaucoma breakthroughs.
- Penetrating Canaloplasty (PCP): This physiological drainage procedure achieves a 90% success rate, with over 5,000 cases performed nationwide following national consensus endorsement.
- Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA): A precise, minimally invasive technique utilizing focused radiofrequency energy for targeted ciliary body treatment.
- Micro-porous Posterior Chamber IOL: Patented intraocular lens designed to resolve shallow anterior chambers based on the trans-lens pressure difference theory.
- FGF Research: Ongoing exploratory studies investigating the therapeutic potential of Fibroblast Growth Factor (FGF) in glaucoma management.
Summary
Glaucoma, the leading cause of irreversible blindness globally, faces challenges in diagnosis and patient volume. Wenzhou Medical University pioneered the “Wenzhou Model, ” integrating ophthalmology and optometry. Supported by the National Engineering Research Center of Ophthalmology and Optometry and the National Clinical Research Center for Ocular and Optometric Diseases, the Eye Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University and Eye Valley platform synergistically empower basic research, clinical studies, and industrial translation, fostering a series of breakthrough technologies in glaucoma.
Current innovations include:
1. Penetrating Canaloplasty (PCP): A physiological drainage procedure with 90% success. Recommended by national consensus, it has 25 publications, 8 patents, and over 5,000 cases performed across 100+ hospitals.
2. Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) of the Ciliary Body: A precise, minimally invasive technique utilizing focused radiofrequency energy, now listed as a hospital innovation project.
3. Micro-porous Posterior Chamber IOL: Developed based on the trans-lens pressure difference theory to address shallow anterior chambers. Patented and successfully implemented.
4. FGF Research: Exploratory studies investigating the potential of Fibroblast Growth Factor (FGF) in glaucoma prevention and treatment.
