Singapore National Eye Centre visits Rotterdam Eye Hospital

2025-09-25 12:17:57

On 2 and 3 September, Rotterdam Eye Hospital welcomed a delegation of six professionals from the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC). This second visit in 2025 took place within the framework of the World Association of Eye Hospitals (WAEH).

Focus on Practice and Innovation
During the program, colleagues from Singapore and Rotterdam engaged in discussions on current medical and organizational topics. These included artificial intelligence and digital innovations, collaboration with general practitioners and primary care partners, and sustainability initiatives. The exchange provided an opportunity to compare existing practices and jointly explore opportunities and challenges.

The Value of International Collaboration
For Rotterdam Eye Hospital, these kinds of meetings mean more than just knowledge sharing. HR & Training Manager and WAEH board member Jos Hubers emphasizes the broader significance: “Hospitals worldwide face similar challenges. By discussing topics such as operating room efficiency and the role of digitalization together, we help each other progress. The WAEH network enables this deeper engagement and provides us with a unique platform to collaborate with leading eye hospitals worldwide.”

The discussions with the Singapore National Eye Centre highlighted how valuable it is to incorporate international perspectives in the further development of eye care. This directly contributes to the organization’s future resilience. Rotterdam Eye Hospital continues, together with its WAEH partners, to commit to sharing knowledge and experience globally.

Message of Thanks from the SNEC Delegation
The delegation from the Singapore National Eye Centre expressed their appreciation for the visit to Rotterdam Eye Hospital:
“On behalf of Dr. Zainah and our team, I would like to sincerely thank you for hosting us last week. The sessions were insightful for us, and we appreciate the time, effort, and openness with which you and your colleagues shared your experiences and best practices. We are grateful for the warm hospitality extended to us throughout.”
