New centre reaches the top

A significant construction milestone was marked today with a topping out ceremony on the site.

The event marked completion of the concrete structure of the new centre for advancing eye health, in St Pancras, Camden.

The centre will bring clinicians from Moorfields’ City Road site and scientists from the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology under one roof for the first time.

The new centre, project name Oriel, is a partnership between Moorfields Eye Hospital, the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology and Moorfields Eye Charity.

Representatives from the three partner organisations took part in the event along with the New Hospital Programme, staff, patients, donors, Bougyues UK and local stakeholders.

The centre is due to open in 2027.
