LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) has expanded its multidisciplinary approach to healthcare with the launch of the Adult & Child Neurology Clinic at its Kallam Anji Reddy (KAR) Campus in Hyderabad. As part of the newly established Eye and Brain Centre, the clinic aims to strengthen collaboration between ophthalmologists and neurologists in the diagnosis and management of conditions where vision and neurological health are closely connected.

Although our eyes capture visual information, it is the brain that processes and interprets what we see. Research increasingly highlights the close relationship between vision and cognitive health, particularly in ageing populations and in patients with neurological conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, where visual symptoms cannot always be explained by changes in the eyes alone.

The Eye and Brain Centre, inaugurated in April 2026, was established to address this important and often underexplored area of eye-brain health. Building on this initiative, the Adult & Child Neurology Clinic officially commenced on 19 June 2026, bringing together specialists from multiple disciplines to provide more integrated patient care.

The clinic reinforces LVPEI’s commitment to collaborative healthcare, recognising that complex eye-brain conditions benefit from expertise that extends beyond a single specialty. Paediatric neurologist Dr Lokesh Lingappa is part of the new service and will contribute to advancing this specialised field alongside ophthalmologists and other collaborating institutes and experts.

To mark the launch of the clinic, a 90-minute multidisciplinary session was held in which ophthalmologists and neurologists jointly discussed complex patient cases in real time. The collaborative format enabled comprehensive case evaluations while creating valuable opportunities for shared learning across specialties.

By bringing together expertise in ophthalmology and neurology within one integrated ecosystem, LVPEI’s Eye and Brain Centre continues to develop a model of care that combines clinical excellence, multidisciplinary collaboration and patient-centred care for individuals with conditions affecting both vision and brain health.
