Start WAEH project
Clinician Burn Out

Clinicians, ophthalmologists (in training) and all other employees working in eye hospitals worldwide increasingly experience work pressure and an imbalance between work and private life. Specifically ofcourse during the corona pandemic.

The Rotterdam Eye Hospital would like to invite all WAEH member eye hospitals to join the WAEH project ‘Clinician Burn out’. The project aims to share knowledge about burn out between eyehospitals worldwide, to test best practices and to create an active global network in which knowledge and experiences are exchanged on a more permanent basis.

Wellbeing apps for free for NHS

Two weeks ago, the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) partnered with multiple wellbeing apps to offer free access for all staff. NHS workers can use Headspace, Unmind, Sleepio, and Daylight for free until the end of the year. Through these apps, users can improve their wellbeing through meditation exercises, mindfulness guides, sleep aids, and nutrition programs. The partnership aims to support the mental wellness of healthcare workers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Poem from a Patient – TODDY HOARE

Lockdown.

Confined to home takes some planning;

What to do,  not waste hours at leisure –

Usual distractions the government’s banning –

Means in this situation we take measure

Assessing priorities, people, risks,

Neighbours’ needs, and prayer support.

Fresh air and exercise in lieu of sport

Is fine where open fields stretch from your door

But for those cramped indoors slipped discs

From bending and stretching on the floor

Become as real a danger as Covid-9

And catching the virus in a shopping line.

Modern comms and phones are no disgrace

So keep in touch but don’t touch your face!
