Establishment of the World Association of Eye Hospitals!

July 14, 2026

On Sunday June the 3rd, the World Association of Eye Hospitals has been established by the:

  •     Moorfields Eye Hospital ( London , UK )
  •     the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC)
  •     Rotterdam Eye Hospital (The Netherlands).

The major of Rotterdam, I.W. Opstelten, was the honourable witness of the establishment.

The establishment of the WAEH will make the global comparison of eye hospitals and departments of ophthalmology on an organizational and medical level possible.

At the establishment of the WAEH the following eye hospitals were present:

  •     Tun Hussein On National Eye Hospital (Kuala Lumpur, Maleisia)
  •     Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital (Melbourne, Australia)
  •     the Department of Ophthalmology of the University Hospital Leuven (Belgium)
  •     Singapore National Eye Centre
  •     Moorfields Eye Hospital (London, UK)
  •     Rutnin Eye Hospital (Bangkok, Thailand)
  •     St. Eriks Eye Hospital (Stockholm, Sweden)
  •     The Rotterdam Eye Hospital

The president of the American Association of Eye and Ear Hospitals was also present at the establishment of the WAEH.
