New WAEH project- Patient Eye Drops Education Package

As hospitals we have a shared responsibility in ensuring our patients are more health literate. Many patients have difficulties administering eye drops due to age related factors and/or impaired vision or fine motor skills. Ineffective use or noncompliance of medication is a significant risk. Prescribed eye drops are vital treatments in the management of eye disease, prevention infection and reducing inflammation.

The WAEH has funded a project about Patient Eye Drops to address this need. The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne, Australia is leading the development of a video and factsheet for the use of all WAEH members.

The Education Package will be launched on World Sight Day October 13 2022 and all members will receive a factsheet and animated video that can be branded and translated for their own country and patient groups!
