Laura Wade-Gery appointed as new Chair of Moorfields

2023-03-25 12:58:10

Laura Wade-Gery has been appointed the new chair of Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and will succeed Tessa Green CBE who will step down from the role in December. Laura will take up the role of chair from April 2023.

Laura brings a huge amount of experience to Moorfields and is currently the chair of NHS Digital, and has a clear focus and passion for digital transformation.

“I am honoured to be joining a world-renowned organisation and its truly exceptional staff,” said Laura. “With the roll out of a new strategy for excellence underway, I am looking forward to playing my part in helping drive forward digital innovation to help Moorfields continue to deliver world leading eye care.

Dr Martin Kuper, chief executive at Moorfields Eye Hospital, added: “We are delighted that Laura will be joining Moorfields at such an important time. Laura brings substantial experience in leading large-scale organisations with a clear emphasis on using digital, data and technology to transform services.  I am certain that Laura’s expertise will ensure Moorfields advances at the very cutting edge of eyecare treatment, research and education. We look forward to welcoming Laura in April.”

“I would also like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to Tessa Green, who will be missed terribly by all of us here at Moorfields. I would like to thank her personally for her support, and for her dedication and drive in helping to shape the legacy of Moorfields.”

Ros Given-Wilson, vice-chair, will serve as interim chair when Tessa Green steps down from the role in November.
