This Community of Practice (CoP) will officially launch on 22 January, from 01.00 – 02.00 PM CET. We will bring together fundraising professionals from eye hospitals worldwide to exchange experiences, share best practices, and explore strategies to strengthen sustainable fundraising in eye care.

The CoP is led by Juliette Fahlenbrach, Fundraising professional at Fondation Asile des aveugles – the Hôpital ophtalmique Jules-Gonin. She is also Co-Lead of the Community of Practice on foundation giving for Swiss fundraising, the national organization of Swiss fundraisers. With her strong background in foundation fundraising and community building, Juliette will guide this CoP as a collaborative and practical learning space. Communities of Practice in 2026

These meetings allow members to share their expertise, exchange personal experiences, and offer valuable resources, fostering a supportive environment for continuous growth in our roles. World-first Moorfields project shows great promise for treatment of chronic hypotony

News from full member Moorfields Eye Hospital

A Moorfields project published today in the British Journal of Ophthalmology demonstrates the effectiveness of a widely-used eye injection to manage the previously untreatable rare condition, hypotony.

This condition is characterised by abnormally low eye pressure, which alters the eye’s normal shape and internal structure. Over time, this can lead to progressive and permanent vision loss, often taking several years to result in blindness. Hypotony may develop as a result of underlying eye conditions that damage the part of the eye responsible for producing the fluid that maintains normal eye pressure.
